Valmet has launched the Valmet DNAe Integrated Automation System for the marine sector, a fully web-based platform designed to unify all onboard equipment. This system is notable for being the first marine automation solution to achieve ISASecure SSA Level 1 certification, highlighting its robust cybersecurity features.
As maritime operations increasingly rely on connectivity, the demand for effective data management and cybersecurity grows. John Weierud, director of marine automation at Valmet, emphasized that the development of DNAe prioritizes usability, performance, and security to ensure safe and reliable operations.
Valmet DNAe features a unified interface for control, analytics, configuration, and maintenance, enhancing collaboration among various user groups, from engine control rooms to bridges. Its advanced analytics transform both real-time and historical data into actionable insights, thereby reducing crew workload.
The system is built on a scalable, redundant data platform that ensures secure access and high availability. Key cybersecurity measures include role-based access control, authentication, encryption, and audit trails, supporting secure OT/IT connectivity and paving the way for increased digitalization in marine environments. Weierud noted that this launch positions Valmet to expand its presence in the global marine industry.
