KVH has introduced the CommBox Edge Core, the latest model in its CommBox Edge Communications Gateway series. This advanced device is designed for leisure and small to mid-sized commercial vessels, as well as shore-based networks, offering robust network management and diverse onboard networking capabilities.
Chad Impey, KVH’s Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Support, highlighted the increasing demand for data and multiple networks on yachts and commercial ships. The CommBox Edge Core aims to meet these needs by providing an affordable and secure solution for managing various communication networks, enhancing the basic routers typically included with satellite communication products.
The Core features seamless integration and management of various Wide Area Networks (WANs) such as Starlink, VSAT, and 5G/LTE. It supports Wi-Fi 6, multiple SSIDs, and offers a high-gain Wi-Fi bridge for external networks. Additional capabilities include VLAN support, data tracking, zero-touch installation, and a user-friendly mobile app for easy control.
As part of the CommBox Edge family, the Core simplifies multi-channel connectivity, providing users with an all-in-one management toolbox for diverse WAN options. It also ensures secure connectivity with a built-in firewall and offers options for SASE cloud connectivity, available as a standalone purchase or in a performance kit with expanded functionality.
