OEMs are strategically positioning themselves to manage sensor data flow from ships, enabling improved support and troubleshooting. Teijo Hiito, Digital Product Manager at Wärtsilä Marine, notes that digital monitoring has evolved from periodic data capture to continuous, high-resolution visibility, allowing for proactive maintenance rather than reactive fixes.

Wabtec Corporation has partnered with ioCurrents to implement a remote monitoring and diagnostic (RM&D) system for new marine engines, providing insights into performance and maintenance needs. Similarly, Caterpillar’s VisionLink software delivers actionable telematics data, optimizing maintenance through real-time analytics accessible across devices. Rolls-Royce Power Systems focuses on integrating service with digital monitoring to minimize downtime, employing advanced sensors and AI for early fault detection.
