An Indian seafarer, Rakesh Chauhan, aged 33 from Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, reportedly died from cardiac arrest in Venezuela in May 2026. His family received his body without a post-mortem, prompting them to seek assistance from the Forward Seafarers’ Union of India (FSUI). After conducting an official post-mortem on June 7, the family was shocked to discover that Rakesh’s vital organs were missing, leading to demands for further investigation.
The post-mortem was performed by a team of medical professionals in Deoria, who noted extensive stitching on his body and the absence of key organs, including the brain, heart, and lungs. The report indicated that Rakesh’s body had been stored in a deep freeze for nearly a month prior to its return to India. The FSUI has raised concerns over the handling of the case, calling for accountability from the Venezuelan authorities and urging the Indian Embassy to intervene.
Rakesh’s widow, Ranjana, expressed her distress over the shocking revelations and the circumstances surrounding her husband’s death. The family is seeking answers regarding the missing organs and the lack of communication from the shipping company, Xfinity Marine Solutions. They have called for a complete autopsy report and justice for Rakesh.
