Police officers are urging parents to monitor their children’s activities during the school Easter holiday after thousands of pounds worth of damage was caused to the Warsash Maritime Academy building on Newtown Road. The academy, part of Solent University, offers over 150 maritime courses for students aged 16 and older.
In a Facebook post, officers stated that they had been deployed to an incident of vandalism at the academy and found five young people nearby, whose details were taken and sent home to their parents. An investigation has been launched, with the offenders expected to be identified through CCTV footage and face consequences for their actions.
Police emphasized that while they understand it is half term and young people may want to have fun, they will not tolerate destructive behavior. The damaged building poses a safety risk, with high fences now surrounding the perimeter. Patrols will continue in the Strawberry Fields and Warsash area to prevent further incidents of anti-social behavior and offenses during the holiday period.
