Rewriting Women into Maritime History and the SHE_SEES exhibition are on a mission to share the untold stories of women in the maritime industry globally. Led by Emilie Sandy, this three-year initiative aims to empower women to shape their own narratives. The program seeks female harbour pilots worldwide to participate in SHE_SEES HER VOICE.
Women leaders in Southeast Asia’s maritime sector recently completed an intensive IMO training course on green shipping technologies and digitalization. The program, part of the SMART-C Women Project funded by South Korea, aimed to enhance skills and job opportunities for female professionals in developing countries. Participants gained valuable insights and experiences to drive innovation and sustainability in the industry.
IMO Secretary-General, Arsenio Dominguez, celebrates International Day for Women in Maritime 2024 with the theme “Safe Horizons: Women Shaping the Future of Maritime Safety.” Events include social media participation and a symposium on 17 May 2024. Dominguez urges fostering diversity and inclusion in the maritime industry and beyond for gender equality.
