Activities planned include sharing maritime safety pictures on social media with the hashtag #WomenInMaritimeDay and a symposium on 17 May 2024 featuring keynote speakers and the presentation of the IMO Gender Equality Award.
Dominguez emphasized the importance of embracing diversity and inclusion, not just in the maritime industry but across all sectors of society. This year’s theme highlights the crucial role women play in enhancing safety measures in maritime operations. He urged everyone to take concrete actions to promote gender equality and support women’s meaningful participation in the industry.
Encouraging active participation beyond mere words, Dominguez called for breaking down barriers to gender equality in the workplace.
