India Introduces Hydrogen Fuel Cell Ferries for Eco-Friendly River Transport
The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) has introduced Hydrogen fuel cell powered ferries to make riverine transport more environmentally friendly. The first vessel of its kind is en route to Varanasi after crossing the New Navigational Lock at Farakka. Built at Cochin shipyard, it was virtually launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
