Andhra Pradesh, with a coastline of nearly 1,000 km, is set to capitalize on its maritime resources with the introduction of a new Maritime Policy. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced that the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Master Plan would be unveiled soon, urging officials to take immediate action to revive wealth-generating projects such as the AP Maritime board, Maritime Infrastructure Development Corporation, special purpose vehicles, and AP Inland Waterways Authority projects.
During an infrastructure review meeting, Naidu instructed officials to develop air strips and airports in various locations across the state, including Dagadarthi, Kuppam, Nagarjuna Sagar, and Mulapet in Srikakulam district. Emphasizing the government’s commitment to establishing 12 to 14 airports and airstrips, Naidu highlighted the importance of enhancing port, airport, and highway connectivity to drive industrial growth and create employment opportunities.
Naidu also expressed concern over the irregularities in the AP State Fibernet project, noting a significant decrease in connections over the past five years. He criticized the previous government for mismanagement, leading to a substantial debt of Rs 1,258 crore. Naidu directed officials to investigate and report on the issues surrounding the Fibernet project, while also outlining plans to restructure various corporations under the government’s purview to enhance governance and efficiency.
