Yemen’s Houthi rebels carried out two military operations on Sunday, targeting an Israeli ship in the Gulf of Aden and military sites in Eilat, Israel’s southern tip. The attacks were in response to an Israeli airstrike in Khan Younis, Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of 90 Palestinians and injuries to 300 others. The Houthi military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, stated that the operations involved ballistic missiles, drones, and were a retaliation against the Israeli actions.

The United States Central Command announced that it had destroyed two Iran-backed Houthi unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and a surface vessel in the Red Sea, citing them as imminent threats to U.S. and coalition forces in the region. The Houthi group, an ally of Iran, has been conducting drone and missile attacks on shipping lanes in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden since November. The attacks are meant to express solidarity with Palestinians affected by the conflict in Gaza and have resulted in sinking ships and fatalities.

The escalation in military actions between the Houthis, Israel, and U.S. forces in the region has raised concerns about the safety of shipping vessels and the ongoing tensions in the area. The Houthi attacks have targeted both military and civilian vessels, causing damage and casualties. The situation remains volatile, with the risk of further confrontations between the parties involved.
