The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), India’s most crucial container transshipment port, commemorated World Environment Day with a strong commitment to sustainability. The event, held on June 5, 2024, included various activities to raise environmental awareness. The highlight was a massive tree plantation drive in collaboration with several organizations, where 110,000 trees were planted in green belts of JNPA SEZ. The event also featured a street theater performance on environmental issues, emphasizing the port’s commitment to sustainable practices.
During the event, the Chief General Manager highlighted JNPA’s environmental efforts and action plan. The Chairman, Shri Unmesh Sharad Wagh, emphasized collective action for environmental protection, stating JNPA’s dedication to minimizing its environmental footprint and promoting responsible growth. The port has implemented eco-friendly initiatives like solar panels, LED lighting, and transitioning to electric vehicles to reduce air pollution and meet sustainability goals in India.
