A dedicated session titled “Unlocking Andhra Pradesh’s Maritime Advantage” took place during India Maritime Week 2025, aimed at outlining the state’s strategic plans to enhance its maritime infrastructure and position itself as India’s leading logistics and shipbuilding hub. The session gathered policymakers, port operators, investors, and infrastructure experts who discussed vital strategies for improving Andhra Pradesh’s maritime framework.
Key discussions revolved around optimizing port operations, enhancing turnaround times, and fostering automation. Panelists emphasized forming global partnerships to develop smart and sustainable ports, and stressed the importance of integrating the hinterlands of neighboring states to expand cargo volume and boost competitiveness in international trade.
Participants also explored potential policies and infrastructure required to establish Andhra Pradesh as a prominent shipbuilding center in South Asia, highlighting the need for targeted skill development and R&D collaborations. The session notably featured the signing of strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with domestic and international investors, indicating a solid investor confidence in the state’s maritime initiatives.
In his closing remarks, M.T. Krishna Babu, IAS, reinforced the state’s commitment to becoming India’s Maritime Gateway, calling for collaboration on innovative port and logistics infrastructure that will drive the maritime sector’s future growth. The government’s presentation underscored Andhra Pradesh’s growing significance on India’s east coast, with plans for new ports and improved connectivity to enhance logistics efficiency.
