A Delhi court has officially declared Siddharth Khera an absconder in connection with the alleged ₹400 crore fraud involving Seagull Maritime Agencies. This decision was made by Judicial Magistrate First Class Deepakshi Rana after Khera failed to appear in court despite 30 days of proceedings under Section 82 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Following this ruling, the court ordered the local police to file a First Information Report (FIR) against him, marking a significant development in the ongoing investigation into financial irregularities linked to the company.
The Economic Offences Wing initiated an FIR in January 2022, accusing Khera and his father, Ajay Khera, of diverting business and payments from Seagull Maritime to Azure International LLC and another associated firm. Siddharth Khera, who worked as a business development manager at Seagull’s U.S. branch until June 2021, is also alleged to have served as a director at Azure International alongside his wife. These allegations, however, have not yet been substantiated in court.
Ajay Khera, a former executive director of the Central Warehousing Corporation, was arrested in September 2022 and charged, but was granted bail by the Delhi High Court in April 2023. Meanwhile, the High Court denied anticipatory bail to Siddharth’s mother and brother in February 2025, highlighting the ongoing legal challenges faced by the Khera family. The Supreme Court has authorized investigators to pursue diplomatic avenues to secure Siddharth Khera’s deportation, further complicating the case involving alleged financial fraud across international borders.
