In a significant achievement for maritime innovation, Docker Vision, a pioneering AI and Computer Vision startup, received a prestigious ₹1 Crore grant from USHUS, a maritime startup engagement program of Cochin Shipyard Ltd in partnership with IIT Madras. This award recognizes Docker Vision’s innovative contributions towards maritime digital transformation. The grant was presented during the Dedication Ceremony of Terra Maris on April 7, 2025, at Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) as part of the Green Tug Transition Program.
The event was attended by Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, who honored forward-looking technologies driving sustainability and efficiency in the Indian maritime sector. Madhu S Nair, Chairman and Director of Cochin Shipyard Limited, highlighted the importance of fostering innovation and skill development among India’s youth. He emphasized the transformation taking place in the maritime sector due to national programs like Maritime India Vision (MIV) 2030 and Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047.
The grant awarded to Docker Vision underscores its role in revolutionizing port and shipping operations through advanced AI-powered OCR solutions. The company’s OCR technology leverages AI for automating port processes by identifying containers, vehicles, and shipping documents, streamlining operations, enhancing traceability, and expediting logistics across terminals. Prajith Nair, CEO of Docker Vision, expressed gratitude for the grant, noting its significance in advancing the company’s mission of transforming the maritime and logistics sectors through technological innovation and collaboration with IIT Madras and Cochin Shipyard. Athira M, CTO of Docker Vision, highlighted the opportunities the grant provides for further research and development in AI-powered OCR for complex maritime settings.
