Andhra Pradesh is poised to enhance its maritime sector with the Juvvaladinne project in Nellore district, aimed at establishing a global hub for maritime robotics and autonomous shipbuilding. State Minister Anagani Satya Prasad announced that this initiative will create India’s first autonomous maritime shipyard, representing a significant technological advancement in the industry.
The Juvvaladinne fishing harbor has already been developed at an investment of ₹288.80 crore. The next phase will focus on transforming the facility into a research and development center dedicated to innovative maritime technologies, including autonomous vessels and robotics-driven shipbuilding systems. Minister Satya Prasad emphasized the goal of positioning Andhra Pradesh as a leader in next-generation maritime infrastructure.
He highlighted that the project is expected to generate significant employment opportunities, especially for youth in technical and research fields. Additionally, it aims to attract investments and encourage collaboration in emerging maritime technologies. The Minister criticized the previous YSRCP government for failing to complete any port or harbor projects during its tenure, alleging that former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is attempting to politicize the Juvvaladinne project.
Satya Prasad reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the initiative, stating that it will bring transformative changes to Andhra Pradesh’s maritime economy, strengthen infrastructure, and provide long-term benefits for coastal communities and the industrial ecosystem.
