GRSE and Damen Join Forces to Boost Global Competitiveness

GRSE Bags ₹1,032 Crore PSV Contract from ONGC: Powering India’s Offshore Energy Sector

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) Ltd., a prominent Defense Public Sector Undertaking in India, has taken a significant step in enhancing its technological capabilities and global competitiveness. On September 2, 2026, during the SMM Hamburg Maritime Trade Fair in Germany, GRSE signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Damen Technical Cooperation B.V., a leading maritime organization from the Netherlands. This agreement aims to foster a technical and business collaboration focused on the design and construction of advanced dredgers in India.

The MoU outlines several key areas of cooperation, including advanced dredger design and technology, technical knowledge transfer, joint design and construction proposals, and the development of indigenous dredger-building capabilities. Additionally, it establishes a framework for long-term collaboration to meet future dredging needs. This partnership builds upon the existing relationship between GRSE and Damen, notably including the ongoing construction of a 1,000 m³ dredger for the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority.

This collaboration is expected to bolster GRSE’s position in the specialized dredger market and address India’s increasing demand for modern dredging solutions. The initiative emphasizes the synergy of global design expertise with India’s shipbuilding strengths, paving the way for the next generation of dredgers for both domestic and international markets.
