SDHI and GMB Partner in ₹4,250 Crore Shipbuilding Expansion

Swan Defence and Heavy Industries Limited (SDHI), India’s leading shipbuilding firm, has signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) for a ₹4,250 crore investment. This collaboration aims to modernize shipyard infrastructure, enhance domestic supply chains, and cultivate a skilled workforce for India’s maritime sector.

The investment will be allocated to three major projects at the Pipavav Port shipyard, which boasts the nation’s largest dry dock, capable of constructing vessels up to 400,000 DWT. Specifically, ₹3,500 crore will be directed toward expanding capacity through new slipways, jetties, cranes, and dredging operations to meet both global and domestic shipbuilding demands.
