Carbon Ridge has achieved Design Basis Approval (DBA) from DNV for its Onboard Carbon Capture System (OCCS), confirming that its foundational design meets safety and regulatory standards. This milestone paves the way for future type approval and the system’s first onboard deployment, advancing Carbon Ridge’s solution for the global shipping fleet.
The OCCS technology is tailored for maritime operations, promising over a 90% reduction in CO₂ emissions and eliminating more than 99.9% of particulate matter, NOₓ, and SOₓ. This positions it as a comprehensive solution to meet stringent global emissions regulations. Notably, its compact design allows for up to a 75% reduction in equipment size compared to conventional systems.
Chase Dwyer, CEO and Founder of Carbon Ridge, emphasized that securing DBA from DNV validates their technology and is crucial for full-scale commercialization. Craig Koehne, Maritime Regional Manager at DNV, highlighted the OCCS as a vital technology for the maritime industry’s transition to low- and zero-carbon fuels, particularly in areas lacking alternative fuel infrastructure.
