His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, has officially opened the Al Dhannah Community Harbour, marking the end of extensive modernization and expansion efforts. This project, developed through a partnership between the Integrated Transport Centre, AD Ports Group, and Abu Dhabi Maritime, stands as a significant advancement in sustainable coastal infrastructure across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The newly inaugurated harbour features a ferry terminal with a 425-square-metre passenger building that accommodates 78 seats, enhancing connectivity along the existing Dalma Island route. In addition to its transportation functions, the facility offers a range of community and leisure amenities, including a public marina with 16 berths, extensive parking options, two boat maintenance workshops, and recreational spaces such as a playground and a restaurant.

Notably, the harbour is designed to maximize views of the Arabian Gulf and Sir Bani Yas Island while preserving existing Ghaf trees. It is distinguished as the most solar-capable public marine facility in Abu Dhabi, equipped with 168 photovoltaic panels that generate 80% of the site’s energy needs, thereby reducing carbon emissions significantly.

Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, emphasized the inauguration as part of a broader commitment to enhancing maritime infrastructure that meets community needs and stimulates economic growth. Dr. Abdulla AlGhfeli, Acting Director General of the Integrated Transport Centre, also underscored the harbour’s vital role in improving connectivity to the Al Dhafra region and addressing the increasing demand for marine leisure and coastal mobility.
