Everllence has introduced a new technology called Engine Supported Air Lubrication (ESAL), accompanied by a white paper titled “A Leap in Vessel Energy Efficiency Advancement with Engine-Supported Air Lubrication.” This document outlines how enhancing energy efficiency is a crucial step in the maritime industry’s shift towards net-zero emissions.
As the transition to sustainability progresses, Everllence emphasizes that advancements in energy efficiency provide a reliable means to cut emissions and costs. ESAL is presented as a viable solution that integrates hull air lubrication with air from the main engine, resulting in reduced fuel consumption, lower regulatory risks, and improved vessel performance.
With the International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations pending, Everllence asserts that ESAL already demonstrates a strong business case. By decreasing fuel usage, it effectively lowers emissions and compliance expenses while mitigating exposure to fluctuating fuel prices and regulations. The fuel savings generated by ESAL can yield significant long-term economic and environmental advantages throughout a vessel’s operational lifespan.
Moreover, by combining air lubrication with the main engine, ESAL enhances net efficiency gains by up to 6%, further decreasing both fuel consumption and emissions.
