Kongsberg Maritime has entered into an extended thruster coverage agreement with KOTUG International to support five new azimuth stern drive tugs for offshore terminal operations in West Africa. These vessels will be managed as a single fleet and are equipped with Kongsberg Maritime’s US255 fixed pitch thrusters.

The agreement establishes a structured lifecycle support framework that includes a preventive maintenance plan defined by the original equipment manufacturer, supplemented by condition monitoring for predictive maintenance. This model allows for maintenance and component replacement based on actual equipment conditions, offered for a fixed annual fee.

This partnership marks the beginning of a long-term service relationship focused on KOTUG’s ASD vessels equipped with Kongsberg thrusters. Morten Steffens, Head of Aftermarket Sales at Kongsberg Maritime, emphasized the importance of reliability in demanding operational environments, highlighting the agreement’s value in enhancing cost control and predictability within the maritime industry.
