The Damen Maaskant shipyard in Stellendam is known for its transformation of icebreakers into expedition yachts. Managing Director Eric Moerkerk, with a background in the maritime industry, leads the shipyard with innovative project control and contract management strategies. Under his leadership, Damen Maaskant has experienced significant growth, with revenue increasing from €30 million to €100 million and the workforce nearly doubling to 140 employees. The shipyard has gained recognition for its work in new vessel construction, repair, and maintenance, as well as converting and refitting expedition yachts.

Yacht conversion presents new challenges for Damen Maaskant, requiring high precision and flexibility to meet client expectations. One major project involved stripping a ship down to bare steel for a full-scale transformation.
