A memorandum of understanding was signed between Square Port Shipyard and Damen Technical Cooperation to develop a shipyard in India that will build Damen vessels tailored to the regional market. This marks Damen’s third partnership in the Indian subcontinent, reflecting the company’s commitment to establishing a presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.
Damen’s Regional Sales Director Asia, Dingeman van Worden, emphasized the importance of having a physical presence in India to leverage the country’s economic advantages and strengthen their competitive edge in the global market. The partnership with Square Port Shipyard is seen as a strategic move to introduce Damen’s shipbuilding expertise, known for its quality and competitive prices, to India’s maritime sector. Damen specializes in ship design, construction, maintenance, repairs, and conversions, offering a range of maritime services to support shipyards worldwide.
