Transworld Shipping Strengthens Fleet with $16.5 Million Dry Bulk Vessel Acquisition

Transworld Shipping Expands Dry Bulk Fleet

Transworld Shipping Lines has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to acquire the dry bulk carrier SALTWIND EXPLORER from Saltwind Explorer Inc. for $16.5 million. This agreement, signed on October 19, 2026, enhances Transworld’s footprint in the global dry bulk shipping sector and has been disclosed to stock exchanges in compliance with SEBI regulations.

This acquisition signals a strategic expansion by the Indian shipowner into the dry bulk segment, complementing its existing fleet of 12 vessels, which includes 10 container feeders with a capacity of approximately 22,000 TEU and two handysize dry bulk carriers with a deadweight tonnage of around 69,000 DWT. The recent purchase follows a previous agreement in September 2026, where Transworld committed to acquiring the bulk carrier Valsamitis for $11.75 million, part of a wider fleet renewal initiative funded by the sale of older vessels.

Transworld’s renewed focus on dry bulk shipping is further exemplified by the launch of Transbridge Global FZCO, a dry bulk shipping pool developed in collaboration with BainBridge Navigation. This platform aims to provide vessel owners with commercial management, global cargo access, and clear revenue distribution. The SALTWIND EXPLORER acquisition is not a related-party transaction, ensuring no shareholding ties with the seller, and is expected to bolster Transworld’s position in a market influenced by commodity trade dynamics and freight-rate fluctuations.
