Construction has officially commenced on a new seafarers centre at the Port of Port Hedland, marking a significant development for maritime workers. Benchmark Construction and Building has secured the contract to deliver this important facility.
According to Pilbara Ports, the centre is designed to serve as a welcoming environment for seafarers visiting Port Hedland. It will offer a range of facilities aimed at ensuring comfort and well-being, including areas for rest, social interaction, and leisure activities, as well as essential support services.
The facility will boast a communal lounge with games and kitchen amenities, as well as quiet spaces for relaxation. Additional features include a library, meditation and prayer rooms, and a shared chapel, catering to the diverse needs of seafarers.
In addition to these amenities, the centre will provide access to Wi-Fi, SIM cards, and will be conveniently located near local shops and services, enhancing the overall experience for maritime workers visiting the port.
