The fuel, meeting RMG380 VLSFO standards, ensures compliance without extra permissions. With sustainable elements from used cooking oil, it promises over 70% reduction in greenhouse gas intensity, aligning with evolving regulatory requirements.
The Port of Rotterdam recently tested its capabilities for future ammonia bunkering operations, in anticipation of the arrival of ammonia-fueled vessels in 2026 or 2027. Safety protocols were enhanced, with successful ship-to-ship transfer of 800 cubic meters of liquid ammonia using gray ammonia. The industry is making strides towards using ammonia as a viable alternative fuel source.

In October, marine fuel sales in Singapore hit a nine-month high due to increased container throughput and vessel calls for bunkering. Despite increased demand, price movements for marine fuel oil on March 28 showed mixed trends. Prices in Kochi increased by $20/mt to $700/mt CFR, while Mumbai prices fell to $698/mt. The new parameters aim to improve quality assurance after a bunker contamination incident in February 2022 that affected 200 ships. The Gas Vitality LNG bunker vessel celebrated its 100th bunkering operation by safely transferring 8000 m3 of LNG to the MSC Freya at the Port of Marseille-Fos. Owned by MOL and chartered by TotalEnergies, the vessel has been operational since December 2021, serving the Mediterranean region. V.Ships France manages the vessel.
