Engine Room Fire on Banana Reefer Ship at Wilmington Port
On August 10, 2026, emergency teams rushed to the Dole Colombia after a fire ignited in its engine room at Port Wilmington. Stretching over 600 feet and loaded with bananas, the vessel’s crew was evacuated, while firefighters implemented the onboard suppression system. One firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation.
