How Wind Power is Shaping the Future of Maritime Transport
French shipowner LD Armateurs has installed six rotor sails on the new roll-on/roll-off vessel, Spirit of Toulouse, designed for transporting Airbus components. At 168 meters, it’s the largest ship with wind-assisted propulsion. Each 35-meter tall sail reduces fuel consumption, enhancing efficiency as part of Airbus’s sustainability efforts by 2030.
