A ship manager in Mumbai has become one of three individuals subjected to the new European Union sanctions targeting Russia, unveiled recently. These sanctions are designed to hinder Russia’s ongoing military aggression in Ukraine, as stated by the EU’s Foreign Policy Chief. The sanctions package also includes the blacklisting of nine companies linked to the transportation of Russian crude oil and illicit maritime oil transfers.

Among the sanctioned entities is Vigor Marine Services LLP, whose ships have reportedly been involved in carrying Russian energy products. The sanctions address a variety of activities such as providing insurance services, facilitating ship-to-ship transfers, and manipulating systems that track vessel locations in real-time. Furthermore, a Dubai-based trading company that has supplied Russian crude to India, notably to Nayara Energy Limited, which is already on the EU blacklist, has also faced sanctions.

Additional measures have targeted several individuals and companies accused of aiding Russian military operations and contributing to the export of Russian energy supplies. Recent sanctions also focus on Russian enterprises involved in cargo delivery and commodities trade, leading to asset freezes and visa cancellations for their leadership, demonstrating the EU’s commitment to further hindering Russia’s military and industrial capabilities.
