Singapore Container Ship Hits Riverbank in India
On August 12, the Singapore-registered container ship Nawata Bhum collided with the Hooghly River embankment while en route to Kolkata’s Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port. Footage showed the vessel approaching without altering course, resulting in its bow becoming lodged. Tugboats later freed it after several hours aground. Investigations are underway.
