During Storm Gertrude, a ship in Britain’s North Sea faced terrifying thirty-metre waves that violently rocked the vessel from side to side. The intense moment was captured by a man standing on the bridge of the ship, located around 100 Nautical Miles northeast of Shetland on January 29. The footage shows the ship being thrown around by massive waves, creating a sea-sickening spectacle as it struggles against the intense motion of the North Sea.
The powerful waves, estimated to be 30 metres high, crashed against the ship, brutally rocking it and soaking the deck. The vessel creaked under the weight of the waves as it thrashed in the sea. The video was filmed on an Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel, responsible for safeguarding oil platforms and the workers on them. Storm Gertrude caused a series of storms in December and January, leading to widespread flooding and high winds in Northern Ireland, Scotland, and parts of England.
The extreme weather conditions brought chaos to the UK, disrupting ferry and train services, and causing trees to fall and vehicles to be knocked over by strong winds. The crew onboard the ship managed to capture the harrowing moment when the vessel was battered by Storm Gertrude, showcasing the power and danger of the natural forces at play in the British North Sea.
