d’Amico International Shipping S.A. recently announced that its operating subsidiary, d’Amico Tankers D.A.C. (Ireland), has exercised its purchase option on the MT Crimson Pearl, a 50,000 dwt medium-range product tanker vessel built in August 2017 by Minaminippon Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., Japan. The consideration for the purchase is approximately $31 million, and delivery is expected between September and October 2024. This acquisition adds to DIS’ fleet, which currently consists of 33 double-hulled product tankers, including MR, Handysize, and LR1 vessels, with an average age of about 8.8 years for its owned and bareboat chartered-in vessels.
Carlos di Mottola, CEO of d’Amico International Shipping, expressed his satisfaction with the purchase of the MT Crimson Pearl, following the acquisition of its sister ship, the MT Crimson Jade, at the end of June. The MT Crimson Pearl is an Eco MR vessel built in 2017 by the same Japanese yard and has been time-chartered-in by d’Amico Tankers since its construction. With this transaction, d’Amico International Shipping acquires a young and high-quality vessel at an attractive purchase price, which is approximately 30% lower than its current market value.
The acquisition of the MT Crimson Pearl reflects d’Amico International Shipping’s strategic focus on expanding and modernizing its fleet with top-quality vessels. With the addition of this vessel, the company strengthens its position in the market and enhances its ability to provide efficient and reliable shipping services to its customers. The purchase also demonstrates d’Amico International Shipping’s commitment to investing in sustainable and eco-friendly shipping solutions for the future.
