Rahul Modi Elected Chairman of Indian Maritime Centre Board

Rahul Modi has been appointed Chairman of the Indian Maritime Centre (IMC), with Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal officiating the announcement on October 2, 2026. Modi’s election took place during the 12th meeting of the IMC Board of Directors held on September 22, 2026, where Maneesh Pradhan was also elected as Vice Chairman.

Rahul Modi Assumes Chairmanship of Indian Maritime Centre Leadership Role

Modi, who is the President of the Coastal Container Transporters Association (CCTA) and a member of the National Shipping Board, takes over the chairmanship from Devki Nandan. Meanwhile, Pradhan, who serves as Chairman of the Maritime Association of Ship Owners and Ship Agents (MASSA) and is the Chief Operating Officer of Synergy Marine Group, succeeds Shankar Shinde as Vice Chairman.

On the same day of the leadership transition, Sonowal led a review meeting to evaluate the IMC’s progress, future strategies, and operational needs. This meeting marked a significant moment for the organization as it welcomed new leadership and aimed to align its objectives with the evolving maritime industry landscape.
