Cordelia Cruises Launches New Homeports in Mumbai and Kochi
Cordelia Cruises has expanded its operations by launching two ships from different Indian homeports: Cordelia Sky from Mumbai and Cordelia Empress from Kochi. This development enhances the company’s offerings on India’s western coast and nearby international destinations. A significant turnaround in Mumbai on October 23 saw nearly 6,000 passengers embark and disembark, showcasing the potential for increased cruise tourism in the region.
The introduction of these two vessels marks a shift from a single-ship operation to a dual-service model, providing travelers with more options regarding departure locations and cruise durations. The Cordelia Sky commenced its first sailing from Mumbai on October 23, while the Cordelia Empress began its service from Kochi the same day. The offerings from Mumbai include weekend cruises and longer itineraries to destinations like Lakshadweep and Goa, while Kochi features shorter sailings and international routes to Malé and Colombo.
This expansion is supported by significant investments in Mumbai’s cruise infrastructure, with the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal designed to handle up to one million passengers annually. Operating from two homeports allows Cordelia Cruises to cater to diverse markets, creating opportunities for local tourism businesses to develop packages around these new sailing schedules. The company has welcomed over 800,000 guests since its inception in 2021, with plans for further growth, including the arrival of Cordelia Sun in 2027.
