The Andhra Pradesh government has officially designated Amaravati as the new headquarters for the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board (APMB), shifting its operations from Kakinada. This decision was made following a proposal from the Maritime Board’s CEO, who emphasized the need for improved administrative efficiency and closer collaboration with various departments situated in Amaravati.

Previously, during the YSRCP administration, Visakhapatnam had been chosen as the APMB headquarters. However, the current government has revised this decision, officially notifying the change in accordance with the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board Act. The relocation aims to streamline operations and enhance coordination in port development activities.

In addition to the headquarters move, the government has authorized the transfer of the CEO’s office and the Directorate of State Ports from Kakinada to Amaravati. This transition will include the relocation of staff, records, assets, and related infrastructure. Furthermore, the CEO has been instructed to initiate the transfer of administrative and financial systems to the new location.

As part of this transition, staff salaries and expenditures will now be processed through the pay and accounts office in Mangalagiri/Vijayawada, replacing the previous arrangements with the Kakinada district treasury. Immediate steps have also been taken to align audit and accounting functions with the new financial structure.
