Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE), a key Defence Public Sector Undertaking in India, has received a Notification of Award (NOA) from Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) for the construction of four Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs). The award, dated July 30, 2026, marks a significant expansion of GRSE’s shipbuilding portfolio, enhancing its footprint in the commercial and offshore vessel segment.
These vessels will be designed in compliance with the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) rules and will feature advanced technologies aimed at supporting offshore exploration and production. With an overall length of around 80 meters and a deadweight capacity of 3,000 tonnes, they will undertake various offshore logistics and support missions.
A notable feature of the PSVs is their hybrid propulsion architecture, which includes electrically driven azimuth thrusters and a Lithium-Ion Battery Energy Storage System. This technology not only boosts operational efficiency but also minimizes environmental impact by supporting various critical functions.
With over six decades of experience, GRSE has delivered more than 800 platforms, thereby underscoring its capability to provide advanced and sustainable maritime solutions, further contributing to India’s offshore energy infrastructure.
