Officials from the Indian Consulate in Dubai have visited Indian seafarers injured in the recent tanker attack in the Strait of Hormuz, offering their full support as the crew members recover in various hospitals across the UAE. This visit occurred shortly after two commercial tankers were targeted by Iranian cruise missiles while navigating through the southern shipping lane of the Strait, within Omani territorial waters.
The attack on the vessels, MT Mombasa and MT Al Bahiyah, resulted in significant damage and fires, leading to the death of one crew member aboard the Mombasa. Eight other crew members sustained injuries, including four Indians and two Ukrainians, with four of them suffering serious injuries. The Consulate’s officials met with the evacuated Indian crew on July 14 and visited the injured seafarers in hospitals located in Dibba, Khorfakkan, and Fujairah.
In their discussions, the officials inquired about the well-being of the crew members and reassured them of ongoing assistance. The Consulate is actively coordinating with hospitals, the ship management company, UAE authorities, and the families of the injured. Additionally, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack and extended condolences to the family of the deceased Indian seafarer and the Government of India.
