Paradip Port is advancing its plans to become a leading green energy export hub, following discussions with a delegation from Japan’s Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company and India’s ACME Group. The talks centered on creating a top-tier green fuel export ecosystem at the port, highlighting the collaborative effort to bolster clean energy initiatives.
Led by Managing Executive Officer Hideaki Akase, the Mitsubishi delegation met with Paradip Port Authority officials to strengthen cooperation on a long-term green methanol agreement. Under this 10-year contract, ACME Group will supply 100,000 tonnes of green methanol annually, contributing to Odisha’s ambitious Rs 67,000-crore investment in green hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol.
Paradip Port Authority Chairman P. L. Haranadh emphasized the port’s strategic readiness to support the global shift toward clean energy. With deep-draft berths and advanced cargo handling, the port is set to facilitate large-scale exports of green energy derivatives, aiding India’s decarbonization goals amidst tightening regulations from the International Maritime Organization.
Overall, Paradip Port is positioning itself as a crucial hub for sustainable maritime trade, supported by robust infrastructure and international agreements to ensure reliable green fuel exports.
