During the 11th International Maritime Congress in Szczecin, Prime Minister Donald Tusk unveiled the Polish Sea program, aimed at revitalizing Poland’s maritime economy and enhancing the Baltic region’s significance. The initiative seeks to attract investments in Pomerania, particularly in shipbuilding and port infrastructure.

The Congress, held on May 15–16, featured notable speakers, including Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak, who discussed expressway projects to improve access to Pomeranian ports. Deputy Infrastructure Minister Arkadiusz Marchewka announced a PLN 1.3 billion agreement to finance ferry construction for Polish shipowners, emphasizing the government’s commitment to bolstering the maritime sector.

Tusk emphasized the need for repolonization, prioritizing Polish suppliers and producers for key projects, including offshore wind farms and a nuclear power plant in Pomerania. He projected that Baltic ports and container terminals would triple their output by 2030, with a record 3.3 million TEUs expected in 2024.

Additionally, the government plans investments in Polish shipyards, including the construction of educational vessels and three new ferries. Tusk affirmed the revival of the Polish flag on ships, linking the Polish Sea program with the Baltic Sentry initiative to enhance maritime safety in the region.
