Sanmar Shipyards has delivered a new Bogaçay Class tugboat, named SAAM HUNABKU, to SAAM Towage, expanding its fleet of SANMAR-built vessels to 16. The tugboat, based on the RAmparts 2400SX-MKII design by Robert Allan Ltd., was handed over on July 14, 2026, and will operate at Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala. The sale was finalized at Sanmar Shipyards, where key representatives from both companies met.

SAAM HUNABKU is designed for challenging port operations, featuring two CAT 3516E engines that deliver 2,350 kW each and comply with IMO Tier III emissions standards. The tug boasts over 80 tons of bollard pull and a free-running speed of 12.5 knots, ensuring efficient ship-handling for ocean-going vessels.

With an overall length of 24.4 meters and a beam of 12.0 meters, SAAM HUNABKU is equipped for versatility and crew comfort, including FiFi-1 firefighting capabilities and accommodations for six crew members plus an additional berth. This delivery aligns with SAAM Towage’s fleet renewal program across the Americas and underscores the growth of their partnership since 2018.
