The search for a crew member who fell overboard from the Norwegian Viva has been officially suspended, as confirmed by Norwegian Cruise Line. The missing individual, identified as Vinshar, a 38-year-old chef from Kozhikode, India, disappeared on April 9 while the ship was near Costa Maya, Mexico, during a seven-night Western Caribbean cruise that started from Galveston.

Following the report of his disappearance, a man overboard alert was activated, prompting the ship to turn around and initiate search operations. The crew notified the Mexican Rescue Coordination Centre, and Norwegian Viva remained in the vicinity for about two hours to assist in the search before being cleared to continue its journey. Despite coordinated efforts with local authorities and other vessels, no trace of Vinshar was found, leading to the suspension of search operations on April 11.

Sources indicate that Vinshar was last seen on Deck 8 near the Bistro, where he worked. Surveillance footage reportedly captured him at the railing around 3:45 PM, approximately two hours after departing Costa Maya. He was not immediately reported missing, as concerns arose only when he failed to show up for his 5:00 PM shift. A thorough search of the ship, including his cabin, confirmed the man overboard incident.

The circumstances surrounding this tragic event remain under investigation, and officials have not released additional details. A family member revealed that Vinshar had been facing challenges at his new position and had planned to return home shortly.
