The Nuclear Energy Maritime Organization (NEMO), a group dedicated to implementing new nuclear solutions in the maritime sector, has recently welcomed three new members. OEGS Technology, Global Nuclear Security Partners, and Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman joined NEMO from July 1 to 3, 2024, expanding the organization’s collaborative efforts in the maritime nuclear industry.
Established earlier this year by a consortium of companies with a shared interest in advancing nuclear energy solutions for maritime use, NEMO aims to shape modern maritime nuclear standards and regulations for a carbon-neutral future. The organization emphasizes fostering a collaborative and innovative environment to drive progress in the sector.
OEGS Technology, based in Texas, brings expertise from the offshore oil and gas industry to engineer offshore nuclear solutions. Global Nuclear Security Partners, a UK consultancy, specializes in nuclear security and threat reduction across civil and defense nuclear sectors. Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, an international law firm based in New York, focuses on technology, energy, finance, and real estate sectors. As interest grows in nuclear propulsion for commercial shipping to achieve decarbonization goals by 2050, NEMO and its new members are poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of maritime nuclear energy.
