Sweden-based Viking Supply Ships AB has announced plans to outsource the management of its six anchor handling tugs (AHTS) to Sea1 Offshore with the aim of achieving significant cost savings starting in the first quarter of 2025. The outsourcing process is expected to be completed by October 2024 pending final documentation and necessary approvals. Viking will retain its ice expertise and continue to be listed on Nasdaq First North.
Viking Supply Ships is known for providing offshore anchor handling and icebreaking services with a fleet of high-quality AHTS vessels capable of operating in harsh environments. Sea1 Offshore, previously known as Siem Offshore, manages a diverse fleet of offshore support vessels globally, including anchor handling tug support vessels, platform support vessels, and well intervention vessels. The partnership is expected to enhance efficiency and operations for both companies.
Sea1 Offshore’s fleet consists of 26 modern offshore support vessels specializing in various services such as platform support, ROV support, and offshore subsea construction. By collaborating with Viking Supply Ships, the companies hope to leverage each other’s strengths and expertise to optimize their operations and provide superior services to their clients. Joining forces will benefit both companies and shareholders, leading to a more streamlined and cost-effective operation in the offshore industry.
