Chowgule and Company’s Shipbuilding Division has signed a contract with Green Maritime Infrastructure to construct two hydrogen-powered cargo vessels at its Goa shipyard. This project, unveiled at the SMM Hamburg 2026 event, underscores a commitment to sustainable shipping, utilizing hydrogen fuel-cell technology for enhanced environmental performance.
The Indian Coast Guard has launched its first indigenous hovercraft from Chowgule Shipyard, Goa, enhancing domestic shipbuilding and coastal defense. This high-speed craft is designed for rapid deployment in challenging terrain, supporting missions like surveillance and search and rescue, and aligning with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative for self-reliance.
Chowgule Shipyard, founded in 1916, evolved from a trading company into a leading shipbuilder. Since entering the export market in 2002, it has delivered 42 vessels and holds orders worth $861.90 million. Despite facing challenges, it invests in training and partnerships to enhance its capabilities, fostering optimism for future growth.
