Kyklades Maritime Corporation, a well-respected independent tanker owner based in Piraeus, has partnered with ShipMoney, a global maritime payments provider, to implement digital crew payment solutions across its fleet of 18 vessels. This collaboration aims to streamline crew wage advances and payouts for approximately 500 multinational seafarers from Greece, the Philippines, and the Balkans. By replacing a cumbersome manual coordination process, the new system allows crew members quicker and more direct access to their earnings while at sea, thus alleviating the administrative burden on both vessel and office teams.
Previously, crew members faced delays when requesting wage advances, especially near port calls or outside standard processing hours, often requiring coordination among multiple parties. Such delays were particularly challenging for seafarers needing urgent funds for family matters. The integration of ShipMoney’s platform eliminates these obstacles, enhancing the overall experience for the crew.
Capt. Petros Komitopoulos, Manager of the Manning Department at Kyklades Maritime, emphasized that the well-being of seafarers is central to the company’s operations. The positive feedback from the crew indicates that the partnership with ShipMoney is a step in the right direction, granting them greater flexibility and access to their earnings.
