The UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) will introduce electronic Flag State Endorsements (FSEs) for seafarers on UK vessels starting September 1, 2026. This initiative aims to modernize maritime services and digitize certification processes, while maintaining the legal status of existing physical certificates during a transitional period of up to five and a half years.
Seafarers in Muscat must obtain medical fitness certificates through examinations by physicians accredited by the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs, as mandated by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
