On July 9, the V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority signed a significant MoU with Belgium’s Port of Antwerp-Bruges and APEC Antwerp-Flanders Port Training Center. This three-year partnership focuses on training, sustainability, and digital transformation, reinforcing India’s commitment to green innovation in maritime operations and enhancing India-Europe maritime relations.
V.O. Chidambaranar (VOC) Port has been awarded first place for Excellence in Cost Management for 2024 by The Institute of Cost Accountants of India, marking its seventh win since 2008. Key achievements include manpower optimization, sustainable practices, and a remarkable operating ratio of 29.45%, showcasing a commitment to efficiency and environmental responsibility.
The V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority has achieved a key milestone with the North Cargo Berth–III, now operational for interim commercial use. Managed by JSW Tuticorin, it efficiently handles dry-bulk cargo using two 120-tonne cranes. The berth can accommodate vessels up to 95,000 deadweight tons, enhancing maritime trade significantly.
V. O. Chidambaranar Port Trust is pioneering maritime sustainability in India with the launch of the country’s first port decarbonisation project. Approved for green methanol use, the project aims to reduce carbon emissions and promote green energy in the maritime sector. This initiative sets a new standard for sustainable practices in the industry.
