New ABS Notation Enables Vessel Operators to Carry an Additional Tier of Containers

New ABS Notation for Safe and Efficient Container Loading

CLP-V(PARR) combines safety-oriented lashing with parametric rolling support and enables operators to increase the loading of containers on deck by up to four percent

ABS has published a new notation that allows extra containers to be loaded on deck while decreasing the risk of loss due to parametric rolling. The CLP-V(PARR) designation optimizes container stowage and lashing without sacrificing safety margins, providing greater flexibility in vessel operations.

Integrated in weather routing software, CLP-V(PARR) offers an operating manual to load up to 640 additional containers on a 15,000 TEU vessel or 960 containers on a 24,000 TEU vessel. By adjusting load factors based on specific routes and sea conditions, operators can reduce cargo loss risks significantly.
