The partners have announced plans to expand the ISRF by adding 10 workstations to its current six, bringing the total to 16. This expansion aims to provide dry-docking, maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for both commercial and naval vessels that are under 130 meters in length and weigh less than 6,000 tonnes.
The ISRF boasts impressive capabilities, featuring a ship lift and transfer system with a capacity of 6,000 tonnes, approximately 1,400 meters of berthing space, and the capacity to repair up to six vessels simultaneously. The facility has the potential for an annual throughput of up to 82 ships.
Constructed for ₹970 crore, the ISRF facility was inaugurated on January 17, 2024, and launched its commercial operations by August 12 of the same year. In the financial year 2025–26, the facility generated revenues of ₹207.33 crore, contributing about 4.81 percent of Cochin Shipyard’s overall operational revenue.
Spanning roughly 30 hectares of land and water, the ISRF is leased from the Cochin Port Authority for a duration of 60 years. Cochin Shipyard has indicated that this venture will enhance repair capabilities, improve operational efficiencies, and facilitate more complex and higher-value projects within India.
