The Government of India has now opened access to the PM GatiShakti portal for the private sector, allowing companies, startups, and researchers to utilize geospatial data to optimize logistics and improve infrastructure. This initiative was announced by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on October 13, with the launch of the ‘PM GatiShakti Public’ platform, developed by BISAG-N and supported by the National Geospatial Data Registry. The platform offers access to 230 verified datasets from the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan.
These datasets, which include information about physical and social infrastructure such as railways, highways, ports, and land use, enable users to perform a range of analyses. This access aims to spur innovation in logistics and urban planning, as highlighted in Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s 2025 Budget speech. The portal’s secure, self-service interface ensures compliance with national policies while empowering private enterprises to enhance operational efficiency across sectors like healthcare and agriculture.
At the launch, Goyal introduced several initiatives under PM GatiShakti, including the PM GatiShakti Compendium, NMP Dashboard, and a Knowledge Management System. Goyal emphasized the initiative’s role in bridging macro-level planning with micro-level execution, significantly enhancing inter-ministerial coordination and infrastructure development in India.
